Throwback Thursday Pic -

In front of Granny & Papa's house at 108 South Dallas, Moore, OK.
Look at the four of us!  Weren't we precious?  Looks like John was after something and I was trying to keep him from getting away.

Education Update.....

I'm not sure all of you know but I've taken the plunge and am actively attending college.  Not full time, of course, I do have a job to take care of, but I am enrolled in Comp I and Pre-Algebra at Tulsa Community College.  At this rate I hope to have a degree by the time I'm 55.  LOL.  I do have a few credits from prior attempts so I'm not completely starting from scratch.  I've always wanted to attend college but other things justly took priority in my life.

My Pre-Algebra class doesn't begin until mid-September.  I'm knee-deep into Comp I.  We meet on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 - 9:50.  I am by far the oldest person in the class, including the Professor.  She appears to be slightly older than Camille. Over half of the class are concurrent High School students and aren't even 18 yet.  I am enjoying the class so far.  We have our first group writing project next week.  The group I'm in have been assigned "Star Wars".  The topics available were all pop culture.  Did I mention I like this class?

I spent most of the first of the week reading the assigned 5 chapters of an extremely boring Little Brown Handbook during my lunches and in the evening.  I got up at 5:30 am yesterday and finished the assignment.  Later in the morning I reviewed the syllabus to discover those 5 chapters were due by NEXT Wednesday.  Better early than late I guess.

Wish me luck!!!

DAY TRIP!

Yesterday I finally got a day off of work and Clinton and I decided to do a day trip and head up the Coastal Bend and visit Goose Island State Park just outside of Rockport, TX.  I'm not the very best at remembering to take pictures.  But the trees in the park were so BEAUTIFUL!!!  I made Clinton slow down so I could take a pic as we drove through some LOL

Trees may not be such a big deal to many of you, but after living in New Mexico for 12 years and then right on the coast line with only a handful of palm trees for the past year, I really like seeing them in clumps!!!

The park is right off of Copano Bay with a really nice pier to fish off of.  We took a quick walk and noticed that the tide was out and the water was REALLY LOW.  You could see the oyster beds along the bottom, also were many jellyfish.  Decided I would take a pic of that too.

Last but not least, we took the ferry at Port Aransas and had to take a picture of the oil tanker going by.  Hope you enjoy the pictures of our day....sorry there are none of our cheesy mugs.  Maybe next time!!!

Interesting Day

So..today was an interesting one.

This morning I woke up and got ready for a job interview. I woke Lewie up and told him that I needed him to be awake because I was running a bit behind and once I went in to the room to change Emalynn would wake up and want breakfast. He quickly got up and took care of her while I was getting ready.

I left the house and headed to my interview, which went great! I was told that I am the top candidate for the position and should hear from them by the end of this week. The position I interviewed for is a staffing coordinator for a job placement agency. Should I get the job I'll be leading a team of people who are working with unemployed Oklahoman's to help find them a job, whether it be temporary or permanent. I will also be working with those people to interview and counsel them in their job hunt. On top of that, I'll be working with employers who are looking for employees to find out what types of candidates they need and negotiating pay rates. The manager I interviewed with was great and assured me that any experience I need will be gained while on the job. She seemed very confident in my ability, which helped to ease some of my nerves.

I left my interview and dropped off some paperwork at another office in Oklahoma City, did my best to not get lost on Oklahoma highways, then stopped at a day care to find out the prices as Emalynn could really use some more structure in her life and more children her age. My errands were done and I headed home.

This is where things get more interesting.

I walked into the house and noticed Lewis was asleep on the couch. It was a bit early for Emalynn's nap so I started looking around for her. I walked into the kitchen and found Emalynn sitting in the sink, trying to do dishes. By this time Lewis had woken up. After looking around a bit more, I noticed a bunch of pills that were on the floor and all over the counter top. Emalynn had gotten into a bottle of Vitamin D pills and some other vitamin's that Michelle has. Emalynn seemed fine, wasn't acting strange or anything, but I was concerned still about her ingesting some of these pills. Not sure what to do, I called mom who told me to call Poison Control since neither of us were sure if this was something that I needed to take her to the hospital for or something that would harm her. The gentleman I spoke with told me that the Vitamin D wasn't necessarily toxic unless she had taken a large amount or if she was taking a lot over an extended period of time. He gave me his direct line and told me if I noticed any reactions, like vomiting or diarrhea to give him a call. About 20 minutes later she began to vomit, and I could see some of the Vitamin D pills that were not fully dissolved. Anyhow, to make an already long story short, I was told to have her drink a lot of water and she should be fine, unless the vomiting kept up or she started acting lethargic. She hasn't vomited in a few hours and she is still my very active toddler.

Apparently her and Lewie laid down on the couch and when she fell asleep he did too and he didn't notice her get up. I think he was more shook up than I was over the incident. I told him that it was okay, we all have fallen asleep when we shouldn't have and that we should just be thankful that this time nothing too serious happened. He's now extra okay with me looking into local daycare's once I start working regularly. Haha.

So..that was my day. I hope everyone else had a much less eventful day than mine.

Miss and love you all very much!

..send pictures and news....

I love this idea of a family blog. We are all so scattered around the country that we only halfway keep contact by fb, and news from others about others. Sometimes I do not pass the news correctly, so this is great.

I want off fb, so post lots of pictures of those 3 precious newest members of our crazy family, We might indeed be crazy, but who isn't these days. Let us know how the job hunts, new locations, and jobs are coming along. Which also means more pictures!!

I do not have any new pictures myself right now, but soon I hope to be able to post some.

Start posting~~~

I love you all.
